What one point of heat rate is worth to you.

Four numbers from your plant. The tubes show what a 1% heat rate improvement saves in fuel each year. Your figures stay in your browser.

Fuel saved by 1% better heat rate

US$ thousand / year

The tubes stay dark until all four numbers are in.

Fuel cost = MW × capacity factor × 8,760 h × heat rate × fuel price. One percent of it is the figure in the tubes. Gross figures, before any project cost.

Engineering & energy studies

For owners, lenders & investment committees

Feasibility, heat and mass balance, waste heat recovery and debottlenecking studies that end in a number a committee can approve. Options costed and ranked, payback stated, assumptions written down where anyone can challenge them.

Asset management & plant performance

For operating plants

Availability, efficiency and cost per unit treated as one problem rather than three departments. Root cause analysis on the failures that keep repeating, maintenance strategy built from your own failure data, and performance tests that establish what the asset can actually deliver.

Project delivery & commissioning

For EPC execution

Schedule, budget and scope control from basic engineering through handover, with interface management between owner, EPC contractor and OEM. Commissioning and startup readiness where the risk concentrates, including permit-to-work systems built for the site rather than for the binder.

For engineering & operations teams

Lean Six Sigma, root cause analysis and project management delivered on site, in Spanish or English, on your own process data. The people who will run the asset after we leave are the ones in the room.

  1. Baseline

Two weeks in the historian and on the plant floor. Heat rate, availability, cycle times, cost per unit, and the maintenance record behind them. We agree the numbers before we discuss the causes.

  2. Constraint

Process mapping and statistical analysis to isolate the one or two constraints carrying most of the loss: combustion, heat recovery, a transfer system, a procedure. Everything else waits.

  3. Study

A costed engineering case: options, balances, capital, payback, risk. Complete enough for a capital committee to decide on, and specific enough for a contractor to price.

  4. Implementation

Engineering change, procedure change or capital project, sequenced and supervised. We stay through execution, including the difficult conversations with contractors.

  5. Handover

Dashboards your team maintains, procedures they wrote, and training so the gain holds after the engagement closes. The asset stays improved without us in the room.

Experience gathered across every phase of a plant.

EG Process is an independent engineering practice. Its method did not come from one job title but from working each phase of a plant’s life, on the owner’s side and the contractor’s.

  1. Study

Heat exchange networks and waste heat research at National Taiwan University, then feasibility and heat and mass balance studies for owners and lenders.

  2. Build

EPC execution and commissioning on thermal and combined-cycle builds in Argentina, Guatemala and Panama, on the owner’s side as often as the contractor’s.

  3. Operate

Root cause investigations, outage reduction and performance programmes on operating plants.

  4. Transfer

Lean Six Sigma and root cause training, so the gain stays with the crews who run the plant.

Lead engineer

The practice is led by a process and project engineer with seventeen years in power generation, industrial gas, oil and gas and heavy industry across Latin America and the Caribbean. The team works from Antigua Guatemala, natively in Spanish and English, and professionally in Mandarin. EG Process is a Fragali Group practice.
